Domotex 2010 – A breakthrough for Välinge Powder Technology?

Viken, Sweden - December 09, 2009

Goodbye paper! Välinge expects that Domotex 2010 will start an evolution of new "paper free" flooring categories in the same way as the first "glue free" Alloc floor did when it was presented by Välinge at Domotex 1996.

A wide range of wood fiber floors (WFF) comprising new solid "paper free" surface layers produced with Välinge Wood Powder technology will be presented at Domotex 2010.

This extremely cost efficient production technology, where a powder based solid layer replaces printed decor paper and thin gray overlay paper, provides superior impact and wear properties and flexible design features, which are impossible to distinguish from real products such as stone and ceramics.

The easy and fast installation of such Solid Laminate Floors utilizing the Välinge Side Push Locking Technology are additional advantages that stone and ceramics cannot provide.

Very deep embossing, solid bevels, decorative grooves and crystal clear surfaces without gray overlays will be presented at Domotex and Surfaces.

All floorboards could be unique without repetition effects from printing cylinders and an endless variety of new designs could be introduced in the production line within a few minutes.

Välinge has recently installed in Viken the first full size WFF production line and will be able to supply considerable start up volumes to its licensees, either as pressed blanks or profiled and packed products ready for distribution.

Powder technology will most likely replace paper technology in the same way as DPL replaced HPL and mechanical locking replaced tongue and groove.

WFF is anticipated to take major market shares from mainly ceramic floors but also from conventional laminate floorings since even wood designs could be produced.

Välinge is in the final stage of finalizing several license contracts with major flooring producers in Europe and US that already are using Välinge locking technologies.

The number of granted license contracts will during the next coming years be limited and priority will be given to present Välinge licenses which have the technical capabilities or marketing resources to introduce powder technology globally on a large scale in close cooperation with Välinge.

Powder technology can be used to produce high quality products that will compete with the most advance flooring categories on the market but also to produce extremely cost efficient floors that could compete with the most cost efficient conventional laminate floors using the paper technology.

Investments are rather limited since conventional laminate presses are used. Välinge is able to provide all special equipment such as scattering and design stations. Välinge has also the capacity to deliver powder.
