5G Fold down locking systems
Välinge has developed and commercializes four types of fold down systems that could be used to lock floor boards with vertical snap and side push principles. All Välinge fold down systems comprise a displaceable tongue on the short edge of a floorboard.
Vertical snap
5G Original and 5G Compact are used in fold down systems utilizing vertical snap of short edges. 5G Compact is more cost efficient and easier to lock than 5G Original.All vertical snap systems have advanced bristle tongues with a rigid outer part and several flexible inner protrusions that create a pre tension locking. This feature is used to obtain a strong lock and to overcome production tolerances.
Side push
5G+ Wedge is used in side push systems where the tongue is displaced along and perpendicular to the joint. The tongue is made in one piece and comprises several small wedges that are automatically separated from the main tongue body when the tongue is inserted during production into the panel edge.5G-S tongues are used in a side push system where the tongue is only displaced along the joint. This locking system offers the advantage that the tongue could be made as a rather simple component without any flexibility.
The 5G-S Wood/Plastic tongue comprises more than 50% wood fibers. The most cost efficient tongue is the 5G-S HDF tongue which is made by machining and punching of a HDF sheet.
5G+Wedge and all types of 5G-S tongues are especially designed to allow an easy transition from 5G Original to a side push system. 5G Compact is compatible with 5G Original.
